Dr Fred Yelveton Visits Australia

Technigro is excited to announce a September visit by Dr. Fred Yelverton, a world renowned turfgrass weed expert and lecturer from North Carolina State University in the United States.

Dr Yelverton began his teaching career with North Carolina State University in 1986. Fred Yelverton is Professor of Crop Science and Extension Specialist at North Carolina State University, and is also Co-director of the Center for Turfgrass Environmental Research and Education (CENTERE). His specialist research interests are weed management systems in turfgrasses and forage crops; weed biology and ecology of turfgrass weeds; ecological and physiological effects of plant growth regulators on turfgrasses; and invasive plants.

Dr Yelverton has acted as the principal researcher on a number of projects in the United States exploring seed head suppression, new herbicides (such as the sulfonylureas), Vegetation Management Under Guardrails and Low Maintenance Turfgrass and Management Systems. Dr Yelverton also sits on the project team for the Integrated Vegetation Management Project in Australia, in which Technigro is the lead partner.

Dr Yelverton will feature as a guest speaker at our next Vegetation Managers Forum, which will be held at the Radisson Resort on the Gold Coast on the 21st of September. Be sure to save this date in your calendar!

Dr Yelverton is also featuring as a Keynote Speaker at the 17th Australasian Weeds Conference in Christchurch, New Zealand.
